The SkinPen® Skin Needling procedure encourages your skin’s natural healing process through the production of new collagen to drastically reduce ageing and scarring.
Although the name might sound invasive and potentially painful, the topical anaesthetic combined with our commitment to patient comfort makes the procedure much more comfortable than you might imagine.
This treatment is performed using a microneedle, which penetrates the skin to cause tiny pinprick bleeding points. This results in the remodelling and boosting of collagen production, leading to rejuvenated, youthful skin.
Skin Needling (Collagen Induction Therapy with SkinPen® Precision) can be extremely effective in the reduction of scarring from acne, ageing, and other skin issues. The collagen produced as a result of the pinpricks will not only heal the damaged area but the surrounding areas as well, significantly smoothing wrinkles, fine lines, and scars.
At +Aesthetics, we suggest combining this process with additional peels and masks to maximise their effect, enabling deeper penetration and moisturisation within the stimulated and open pores. Pairing these processes increases the absorption of active beneficial ingredients into the skin resulting in plumper, more buoyant skin.
On average, the SkinPen® Skin Needling treatment lasts about one hour. Although there is no extensive downtime required post-procedure, it is crucial to note you cannot apply anything to your face for 24 hours besides the HG Lift that is provided in your SkinPen® Kit. Only 48 hours after will you be able to apply the Rescue Complex and sunscreen. No makeup or face washing can occur until 3 days after the procedure. It is also important to stay out of direct sunlight as your skin will be sensitive and more susceptible to over-exposure. The most common side effects are redness and potential peeling, which should last no longer than five days.
